CAPACITY BUILDING / TRAINING OF P&DD AND SDMA, AJK STAFF ON NATURAL CATASTROPHE (NatCat) MODEL, DEVELOPED BY NDRMF

The National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) has established a multi-hazard probabilistic risk assessment framework known as the NatCat (Natural Catastrophe) Model. This framework is essential for performing scientifically grounded risk assessments and loss estimations, which are critical for the development of Disaster Risk Financing (DRF) instruments and for making well-informed decisions in development planning. In partnership with SUPARCO, the NatCat Model tailored for Pakistan features a geo-referenced database that encompasses exposure, vulnerabilities, and risk assessments, as well as a module for risk and loss estimation. To foster knowledge sharing and enhance capacity building, the NDRMF, in collaboration with SUPARCO, designed an awareness and training program for 30 officers from the Planning and Development Department (P&DD) and State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The training was titled “Capacity Building / Training of P&DD and SDMA, AJK staff on Natural Catastrophe (NatCat) Model, developed by NDRMF” and was held on Thursday, 16th January, 2025 at Committee Room. No 01 at the Planning and Development Department (P&DD), Muzaffarabad.
