The BRAVE-IS Programme, an FCDO-funded technical assistance initiative, called on NDRMF for a discussion on strengthening Pakistan’s disaster risk financing and climate resilience architecture. Mr. Yasar Najib, FCA (Climate and Resilience Finance Specialist) and Mr. Kamal Ali (Disaster Risk Financing Implementation Specialist, attended the meeting from BRAVE-IS.
The discussion covered the institutional and operational requirements for the Disaster Risk Insurance Facility (DRIF)/Solidarity Fund, regulatory and market considerations, data constraints, and feasible approaches to strengthening and capitalising disaster-financing mechanisms.
NDRMF welcomed the initiative and FCDO’s continued commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s resilience architecture. The programme’s focus on moving from reactive response to anticipatory risk management and from ex-post to ex-ante risk financing aligns closely with NDRMF’s strategic direction, particularly its work on operationalising the Solidarity Fund.
