Targeted Beneficiary
The project for flood management of Deg Nallah was conceived to manage flood problems caused by its overspills. As the Nallah moves downstream, the longitudinal slope diminishes and cross sections become deeper gradually. The existing channel capacity is generally limited and it bifurcates and overspills at many locations. The spill spread over extensive areas causes destruction of crops, inundating villages and damaging infrastructures in the area. The losses because of inundation are high in monetary terms, human sufferings, properties, infrastructures, land damage and consequently damage to fertile land etc. Further, the villages along Deg Nallah come under threat, endangering life and property due to severe erosion. To cater these damages, the proposed project has build resilience:
- Urban & Rural population of the adjoining areas benefitted directly from the project.
- The project is saving around 20 villages from flood inundation annually.
- Project improved flood drainage system & reduced disaster risk by saving population of more than 40,000 people, adjoining infrastructure & agriculture land.
- Saving thousands of acres of agriculture land and abadies from flood damages, in case of breach.
