NATCAT IN FOCUS | TURNING RISK INTELLIGENCE INTO RESILIENCE
At the international conference on “Leveraging Space Technology for EW4All, Climate Actions and Disaster Risk Assessment,” NDRMF established an exclusive #NatCat Showcase Pavilion to demonstrate how scientific data, geospatial intelligence and advanced risk modelling can strengthen Pakistan’s approach to disaster risk management.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary, visited the pavilion, where Mr. Amir Khan Goraya, CEO, NDRMF, briefed him on the (NatCat) Model, its key components, multi-hazard risk assessment capabilities and live demonstration. The briefing highlighted how scientific data, geospatial intelligence and risk modelling can strengthen disaster preparedness and support evidence-based planning.
The pavilion showcases the model’s capacity to assess multiple natural and climate-related hazards, including the #newly #added Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (#GLOF) and #Smog #perils. Through live demonstrations and interactive technical briefings, the NatCat team engaged national and international participants, highlighting how risk intelligence can inform #planning, #preparedness and #disaster #risk #reduction.
The Honourable Minister’s visit highlighted the importance of leveraging technology and scientific risk assessment to strengthen Pakistan’s disaster #resilience.
Because resilience begins before disaster strikes – with the intelligence to anticipate risk, the insight to guide investment, and the action to protect lives and livelihoods.
