NDRMF received the Best Digital Innovation Showcase Award at the 4th Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) Sustainability Expo in recognition of its probabilistic risk assessment (#NatCat) Model
A digital innovation advancing the use of scientific data and risk intelligence for disaster preparedness and resilience planning.
NDRMF showcased an exclusive NatCat Pavilion at the Expo, showcasing the model’s probabilistic, multi-hazard risk assessment capabilities. NatCat uses risk modelling to assess the likelihood and potential impact of disasters, providing critical insights into potential losses and helping inform risk-sensitive development planning and investment decisions.
The pavilion attracted visits from dignitaries, students and other participants. The NatCat team briefed visitors on the model’s methodology, assessment outputs and practical applications, demonstrating how digital risk intelligence can support a shift from reactive disaster response towards proactive risk reduction.
The award was presented by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Mr Attaullah Tarar, alongside Dr Dr. Abid Qaiyum Suleri, Executive Director, SDPI, and Prof. Dr Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, Allama Iqbal Open University.
This recognition underscores NDRMF’s commitment to leveraging digital innovation, scientific evidence and technology to strengthen disaster risk management and build a more resilient Pakistan.
