The objective of the project was to ensure that communities in vulnerable areas are at reduced exposure to risks posed by natural hazards and are better prepared to respond and cope in disaster situations. This was achieved through:
- Infrastructure improvements resulting in reduced vulnerability to hazards through flood protection structures and early warming systems.
- Provided safe and conducive learning environment for students in 29 retrofitted schools.
- Protected 1116 Kanals of agri and non-agriculture land through flood protection schemes.
Communities vulnerable to the negative impacts of multiple natural hazards better protected and became resilient.
Increased Institutional and Physical capacity to reduce the socioeconomic and fiscal impacts of natural hazards and climate change in Pakistan.

Direct Beneficiaries
Based on the learning of PIMSNP I and to amplify impact of existing interventions the JV of AKF/AKAH has designed interventions along preparedness and active structural interventions in district Chitral and Mansehra in KP province and Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Ghanche in GB. The project interventions focused on:
- Component 1: construction of protective and climate resilient infrastructures.
- Component 2: establishment of early warning systems.
- Component 3: conducive and safe learning environment for children in retrofitted schools.
