Background and context Disaster Risk Financing – Synergy Group (DRF-SG), is established to enhance the level of coordination amongst key stakeholders and a great synergy for disaster risk financing in Pakistan. Pakistan is working with its development partners to enhance its fiscal and operational resilience against natural hazards by putting in place financing mechanisms and instruments to minimize losses from future disasters.

Under the Result Framework of NDRMF, a national level DRF Strategy is being developed, along with two DRF instruments, including their pilot testing. The Fund has also developed probabilistic risk assessments and analysis products, namely Nat-Cat Model (Natural Catastrophe Model) for primary natural hazards to provide scientific knowledge base for DRF and for supporting efficient and effective Disaster Risk Management (DRM) in Pakistan. The DRF Synergy Group (DRF-SG) was established in the year 2019 to achieve better harmonization and cooperation amongst the key stakeholders. This will lead to a better synergy for development of DRF Strategy and disaster risk financing instruments and their implementation in Pakistan.

Expected Output 1.       Stakeholders are well-aware on the progress of DRF Strategy and rendered their comments

2.       Gone through NatCat – Risk Calculator, its functionalities and provide feedback in further improvement of the model from user perspective

3.       Mutual exchange of ideas and works of different stakeholders on DRF
