To strengthen health systems to prepare and respond to the COVID 19 as well as other health emergencies in Gilgit Baltistan particularly to help the poor and vulnerable cope with immediate impact of the pandemic/emergencies
The mortality caused from health pandemics is decreased and socio economic burden is reduced on the affected population
Not Resilient Pakistan. Well-equipped health facilities in remote region of GB will support in timely action to save lives during the health related emergencies. The provision of facilities to the catchment population of these hospitals/facilities will help save time, energy and resources of people by availing health services within their district.

Targeted Beneficiary
In order to effectively respond to outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic in March 2019 and subsequent waves of pandemic, the Government of Pakistan carried out concentrated efforts for prevention, detection & response. Prior to the COVID 19 pandemic outbreak, the capacity of health system of the GB was catering regular health/ medical needs with focused investments on the same. However, after the COVID-19 pandemic it was anticipated that the existing capacity of health system might not be sufficient to cater to the need of the GB. With the looming threat of multiple waves of COVID 19 (new variant) pandemic and other diseases, the Health Department Govt. of GB aims to capacitate the overall health care system to be better prepared for subsequent waves of pandemic along with other future health threats and emergencies.
